OBAN TEEN PLACED ON SEX OFFENDERS REGISTER
Published: 28 June 2018 A 19-year-old man from Oban has been ordered to sign the sex offenders register after admitting to sending explicit messages to a minor.Aaron MacLeod, of Hyskier Gardens, entered a guilty plea at Oban Sheriff Court on 19 June.
The court heard that some of the communications appeared cryptic but were later confirmed to involve requests for explicit photographs.
Sheriff John Herald told MacLeod that, while he was a first-time offender, the matter was serious and required further background assessment.
The case was continued to allow the preparation of social work and background reports, as well as to consider a possible restriction of liberty order.
The final length of time MacLeod will remain on the register will be determined at a future hearing.
