RAPIST FOUND GUILTY FOLLOWING TRIAL IS JAILED
A man from Northwich who was convicted of multiple counts of rape has received a 10-year prison sentence.Nigel Davies, residing on Manchester Road, appeared in Chester Crown Court on Thursday, May 21.
Approximately two months prior, he was convicted of two separate rapes involving the same woman, with the most recent assault occurring in 2023.
During the sentencing, prosecutor Catherine Elvin stated that the victim felt she had lost the ability to enjoy life following the abuse by the 55-year-old.
Ms Elvin added that the woman believes she will not be able to trust a man again.
Davies has a criminal history that includes convictions for harassment, violating a non-molestation order, and breaching a restraining order.
Mitigating, Jason Smith argued that Davies maintained his innocence regarding the sexual offences he was being sentenced for.
He emphasised that the 55-year-old man, who has spent much of his life in responsible employment, faces a significant prison term.
Mr Smith requested that the sentence be fair, considering the facts, the impact on Davies, and justice guidelines.
Ultimately, Recorder Anthony O’Donohoe sentenced Davies to a decade behind bars.
It is expected he will serve approximately two-thirds of this term in custody and the remaining third on supervised release.
