DEWSBURY MAN AVOIDS JAIL AFTER ASSAULTING PREGNANT PARTNER IN DEWSBURY
A man named Zubair Khadam, who also has a wife and a second partner, was involved in a domestic assault where he attacked his pregnant partner three times.
The first incident occurred on September 14 at a BP Service Station in Halifax Road, Dewsbury, during an argument where he grabbed her by the stomach and punched her without causing injuries.
Two days later, while parked in her vehicle, he caused the rear windscreen to smash during another altercation.
On September 24, Khadam returned to their home in Springfield Terrace, Dewsbury, after work, and a further confrontation ensued.
He held her against the wall, took her mobile phone, and the following day, he entered her house, was aggressive, took her phone again, and kicked her in the stomach when she tried to retrieve it, causing her distress.
During the court proceedings, Khadam pleaded guilty to three assaults and two criminal damage offenses.
Magistrates heard that he claimed they were arguing over money and he was trying to grab it, not assault her.
The court was informed that he had no understanding of the harm caused and was living with his parents in Bradford.
He was sentenced to a community order including 200 hours of unpaid work, 25 rehabilitation days, and ordered to pay £370 in compensation, £85 in prosecution costs, and a victim surcharge.
An indefinite restraining order was also issued, banning him from contacting the victim or approaching her residence within 100 meters.
