SERIAL GLASGOW RAPIST STRIKES AGAIN AFTER BEING FREED EARLY FROM JAIL
A serial rapist struck again just a year after being freed early from jail.A woman met Rankin at a casino in March 2022, after which he revealed his dangerous past.
He later raped her at her Glasgow home, warning: "We are having f*****g sex." Rankin faces a possible life sentence after admitting to his latest crimes.
He was previously jailed for more than nine years in 2015 for the rape and abuse of three women.
Prior to his release, he had tried to present himself as wealthy by drinking champagne, wearing designer suits, and giving gifts, before preying on victims.
He had also recorded a vile song on YouTube degrading women and was ordered to be monitored for four years upon release.
Rankin was freed on May 5, 2021.
After meeting the latest victim, he often stayed at her flat, and her behavior changed when she discovered he had been in prison for rape.
He would use her phone and laptop, pretending to be her on social media, and would become aggressive when refused sex.
Rankin also made rules about her contact with family and friends, applied for an overdraft on her bank account without her knowledge, and harassed her during a holiday to Barcelona in June 2022, where he threatened her and her ex-boyfriend.
When she returned, Rankin assaulted her, pushed, punched, and grabbed her by the neck.
He later raped her again when she was vulnerable, with her freezing out of fear.
He also harassed her at work about a photo of her ex-partner and threatened harm to himself if she ended contact.
Eventually, the victim cut contact after returning from Greece and blocked him.
She reported her ordeal to the police, and Rankin was arrested on October 5, 2023, while already in custody for breaching license conditions.
He pleaded guilty to rape and abusive behavior, with a full risk assessment ordered.
The case was adjourned until the New Year, and he remains in custody.
