ZACHARY MOCKFORD FROM EASTLEIGH JAILED FOR BREACHING SUSPENDED SENTENCE AND POSSESSING EXTREME IMAGES

In a recent development at Southampton Crown Court, Zachary Mockford, a 24-year-old resident of Eastleigh, has been sentenced to serve time behind bars following violations related to his previous criminal convictions. Back in January 2019, Mockford was handed a nine-month prison sentence, which was suspended for two years. This leniency was granted after authorities uncovered that he had amassed a significant collection of illegal material, including hundreds of indecent images and videos, some involving very young children. The court's decision was based on the evidence presented, which revealed the extent of his offending behavior.

However, last week, Mockford appeared before the court once again, this time to admit to breaching the conditions of his suspended sentence. The breach involved his failure to adhere to specific requirements set by the court, notably his uncooperative attitude during rehabilitation sessions and his failure to notify police of a change of address within the legally mandated three-day period. Instead, he took five days to inform authorities of his new location, which is a violation of the legal obligations imposed on sex offenders.

Further complicating his case, Mockford also pleaded guilty to possessing an extreme image depicting bestiality. This image was discovered prior to his sentencing in January, during a police investigation that took place in December. The police found the image on his device a month before the court proceedings, but charges related to this particular offense were only brought after his initial sentencing.

During the hearing, the court was informed that Mockford had no fixed address at the time, which contributed to his failure to comply with notification requirements. The judge, Peter Henry, emphasized the seriousness of these violations and ordered that Mockford serve eight months of his original sentence. Additionally, he imposed an extra month for the possession of the extreme image, reflecting the gravity of possessing such material.

Details of the investigation revealed that Mockford had used a registration-free chat site to search for individuals to send illicit images, some involving children as young as four years old. Police searches of his devices uncovered more than 200 videos and hundreds of illegal images, including over 50 videos depicting bestiality. The evidence also showed that Mockford had pleaded guilty to three counts of making indecent images and one count of creating extreme images, underscoring the severity of his offenses.

Mockford’s case serves as a stark reminder of the importance of strict monitoring and enforcement of court orders for sex offenders, especially those involved in the possession and distribution of child exploitation material.
