WILSON TUGWOOD AND JOHN TUGWOOD FROM BARNET AND EAST FINCHLEY FACE JUSTICE IN SEXUAL ASSAULT CASES
In a significant development in a long-standing case of historical sexual abuse, Wilson Tugwood, aged 66, of East Finchley, has seen his conviction overturned by the High Court.The case originally centered around allegations that he assaulted a young girl, approximately 12 years old, sometime between 1980 and 1983.
Wilson Tugwood was initially found guilty in September of the previous year and was subsequently sentenced to 21 months in prison for his involvement in the assault.

However, on February 19, the Court of Appeal reviewed the case and decided to quash Wilson Tugwood’s conviction, effectively overturning the verdict and his sentence.

His conviction was for the rape and assault of the same girl, occurring between 1979 and 1987, as well as an additional case involving another woman in her late teens.
The court found sufficient evidence to establish his guilt beyond a reasonable doubt, leading to his substantial prison sentence.
