WILLIAM POTTER CHARGED WITH SEXUAL ASSAULT NEAR SWADLINCOTE IN BELPER

William Potter, a man with a troubling history of sexual offenses, currently residing in Belper, Derbyshire, is facing serious allegations of sexual misconduct involving two young girls. The charges stem from incidents that allegedly took place at a campsite near Swadlincote, where Potter is accused of engaging in inappropriate and criminal behavior towards a 16-year-old girl and a younger girl.

According to court proceedings, the first incident involved the 16-year-old girl, who was at the campsite when she heard noises and initially mistook the source of the sounds for her father. It was only when William Potter grabbed her by the bottom and kissed her, including putting his tongue in her mouth, that she realized who he was. She managed to push him away and escape the situation. The court heard that Potter claimed this act was a consensual kiss, but the girl’s account contradicts this, describing it as an assault.

The second incident involved a younger girl, who came forward after Potter’s sentencing in January 2016 for previous sexual activity with a child. She alleged that Potter had put his hand under her bra and rubbed her chest, an act that she described as a sexual assault. These allegations are part of the ongoing trial at Derby Crown Court, where Potter faces charges of sexual assault and sexual assault of a child under 13 concerning both victims.

During the court proceedings, William Potter, who is from Matlock Road, denied the allegations made by the second girl, asserting that her claims did not happen. He also claimed that the first incident was merely a kiss that was consensual, a statement that the court and prosecutors are currently examining.
