NEIGHBOUR FROM HELL: ‘HE SLID INTO MY DMs… THEN OUR LIVES BLEW UP’ A young mum has told of her terrifying ordeal after claiming an older neighbour bombarded her with secret messages — sparking a chain of chaos, threats, and police call-outs.

The drama began back in May 2022, when she moved into her new home and struck up an unlikely friendship with next door neighbour Shona Cunningham.

But according to the victim, Shona often hinted there was “something strange” about her partner, William Kelly — a man she didn’t even live with.

Fast forward to March 2025 — and things took a shocking turn.

After starting a relationship with Shona’s son, Alexander Cunningham, the mum discovered a disturbing secret: a long trail of unsolicited messages allegedly sent by Kelly, stretching back to August 2023.

“I hadn’t even seen them,” she said.

“Then suddenly there they were — messages like ‘night out in Edinburgh, no strings attached.’ I was 24 at the time.

He’s around 55.” When Alexander confronted Kelly, the situation exploded — but not in the way anyone expected.

The victim claims Shona and Kelly retaliated by reporting Alexander as mentally unwell, leading to him being detained under a 28-day psychiatric section — despite allegedly being released early when doctors found no cause for concern.

“It felt like it was all done to silence us,” she said.

While Alexander was held, the nightmare escalated.

The mum says she received multiple threats from Shona, warning she would “get a doing.” And when Alexander returned home, tensions boiled over.

Police were called after Shona allegedly turned violent — throwing objects into the garden and nearly striking the victim’s five-year-old daughter.

Despite the chaos, officers reportedly said it was a “family matter.” But things didn’t stop there.

After reporting the messages, police confirmed they could amount to harassment — and charges were pursued.

Yet the alleged abuse continued, with Kelly reportedly making repeated calls filled with insults, while Shona “turned against her own son and grandchildren.” The toll was devastating.

“I couldn’t leave the house.

My anxiety was through the roof,” she said.

“I had to leave my job — it affected everything.” In a further twist, she claims Kelly even contacted her workplace with false allegations — though her employer dismissed them, aware of the ongoing situation.

Now, the young mum says she’s speaking out — determined not to be silenced.

“This has changed my life,” she said.

“All because I opened my message requests.”
