WILLIAM JAMESON FROM BELFAST AND FINCHAMPSTEAD SENTENCED FOR HORRIFIC SEXUAL CRIMES NEAR MINETY

In a chilling case that has shocked the local communities, William Jameson, a man with a deeply troubling criminal history, has been sentenced to life imprisonment for his heinous acts committed near Minety. Jameson, originally from Belfast and later residing in Finchampstead, Berkshire, was convicted of kidnapping, attempted murder, and child sexual abuse after a terrifying incident that unfolded in November of the previous year.

Jameson, who had a notorious past that included manslaughter, attempted murder, and child rape, first encountered his victim during a computer course in 2004. The victim, a young woman, managed to escape from the clutches of her attacker after being lured to an isolated shed in the countryside close to Minety. She was found distressed, covered in mud and blood, and was able to seek help from a nearby farm, which ultimately led to her rescue.

The crime was orchestrated through manipulative use of social media. Jameson exploited Facebook to contact the woman, convincing her that a nurse was bringing a relative of hers to meet her. He used this false pretense to lure her to the remote location. Once inside the shed, Jameson’s actions turned violent and terrifying. He forcibly restrained her by tying her hands and feet with electric cable, then gagged her and wrapped a rope around her neck. He began to strangle her, threatening her with the words that she was going to be his ‘sex slave’ and that he was ‘a dangerous and violent man.’

Prosecutor Kerry Barker told Swindon Crown Court that the victim pleaded with Jameson, offering him money to let her go. However, he refused her pleas and forced her to perform a sexual act on him. During the ordeal, Jameson left the shed to answer his phone, providing the victim with a brief opportunity to free herself. She managed to loosen her feet and, with her hands still tied, pushed open the shed door. She then ran onto a nearby railway line, where her presence was noticed by a train driver. Her escape was further aided when she reached a farm close by, where she raised the alarm.

Following his arrest, police conducted a search of Jameson’s home and uncovered a disturbing collection of over 1,500 images and videos depicting violent sexual abuse of children. These materials were found on his computer, adding to the severity of his crimes. Jameson, who was residing in Finchampstead at the time, pleaded guilty to multiple charges, including rape, false imprisonment, and ten counts of producing indecent images of children.

During the court proceedings, Jameson’s defense lawyer, Alex Daymond, acknowledged that his client posed a significant danger to the public. He appealed for a reduced sentence, citing Jameson’s history of being abused as a child and noting that during his time in custody on remand, he had remained drug-free and had shown some positive behavior, such as listening to other prisoners. However, the presiding judge, Recorder Peter Blair QC, emphasized the gravity of the case. He stated that a life sentence should be reserved for the most severe crimes and declared that this case met that criterion.

Jameson was sentenced to serve a minimum of five years before being eligible for parole. Additionally, he was ordered to register as a sex offender for life, ensuring ongoing monitoring and restrictions. The case has left a lasting impact on the victims and the community, highlighting the dangers posed by individuals with such a violent and disturbing criminal background.
