SON BROKE MUMS BONES BECAUSE OF THE HEAT IN A ROOM
A furious argument about how hot it was in the room ended with a mother suffering broken bones in her hand after her son lashed out in anger.William Ferguson, 26, from Arbroath, lost his temper during a visit to John and Joanne Kirkpatrick’s home in Letham on August 1.
Ferguson – who was already on bail at the time – admitted two counts of assault following the outburst at Gardyne Street.
Prosecutor Jill Drummond told the court that Mr Kirkpatrick had been relaxing in the living room while his wife was upstairs in bed when Ferguson arrived visibly upset.
He sat down complaining about the heat.
When told to sit by the window to cool off, he exploded in anger and struck Mr Kirkpatrick in the face.
Mrs Kirkpatrick tried to intervene, but Ferguson shoved her, causing her to fall into a doorframe and break two bones in her hand.
She later required treatment at Ninewells Hospital.
Ferguson, who lives on Newton Crescent, later told police: “I hit him once and he called the police.
I never touched my mum.”
