GLASGOW MAN CAUGHT TRYING TO MEET 14-YEAR-OLD FOR SEX VIA GRINDR
A pervert who went to meet a 14-year-old boy for sexual purposes claimed he was ‘into young guys’.William Campbell, aged 58, was captured in Glasgow’s Battlefield area in February this year by a vigilante group.
He admitted to officers that he was ‘disgusted’ when questioned about his actions.
Campbell pleaded guilty at Glasgow Sheriff Court to charges of arranging to meet a child for sex and communicating indecently with a child.
The court was told that Campbell had contacted the decoy on the gay dating app Grindr, describing himself as ‘hot hot hot’ and ‘cute’.
Prosecutor Hannah Terrance stated that Campbell claimed he was from Castlemilk, was 51, and expressed interest in young guys.
He went on to discuss kissing the boy before their conversation turned more sexual.
Campbell explicitly admitted that he was there to meet the boy for ‘sexual purposes’ when arrested.
He responded to questions about his actions by saying: ‘I am disgusted - that is my only reply.’ The sentence regarding his case was deferred until the following month to allow for background reports, with Sheriff Paul Reid granting Campbell bail during this period.
