WESLEY WILLIAMS KILLS EX-PARTNER AND BABY IN BILLESLEY, BIRMINGHAM
In a tragic and shocking incident that has sent ripples of grief through the community of Billesley, Birmingham, Wesley Williams, aged 28, has been convicted of the brutal murders of his former partner, Yvonne Walsh, aged 25, and her seven-month-old son, Harrison. The events unfolded just two days after the couple’s relationship ended, culminating in a devastating loss that has left their families and the local community in profound mourning.Williams, who had been involved with Yvonne for several months, was known to have a close relationship with her prior to their separation. The breakup occurred on May 31, and within days, tragedy struck. On June 2, police were called to Yvonne’s residence in Billesley after concerns were raised about her and her infant son’s whereabouts. When officers arrived, they found the two victims dead in their beds, with post mortem examinations confirming that both had died from pressure applied to their necks, indicating strangulation.
Details of the investigation revealed that Wesley Williams had entered her home in Birmingham, West Midlands, and carried out the murders in a violent and calculated manner. The police quickly identified him as a suspect, and he was arrested on the same day the bodies were discovered. During the subsequent court proceedings, Williams admitted to the charges of murder, pleading guilty during an emotional hearing at Birmingham Crown Court. His guilty plea was limited to the two counts of murder, and he showed little emotion as he entered his pleas, wearing a grey sweatshirt.
Judge William Davis QC presided over the case and informed Williams that he would face a life sentence, with a minimum term that would be 'a very substantial period.' The judge emphasized that, given the nature of the crimes, the sentencing would be severe. Williams was remanded in custody until his sentencing hearing, scheduled for the following week. The court was told that the case could not be finalized immediately due to another ongoing trial overseen by Judge Davis.
In the days leading up to the court appearance, Yvonne’s sister, Tracey Walsh, publicly expressed her anguish on Facebook, pleading with Williams to admit his guilt. Her message read: 'You’d think after six months this would get easier but still feels like the first day…plead guilty today you monster and let us get justice for our sister and nephew.'
Yvonne Walsh was employed at a care home for vulnerable adults in Moseley, Birmingham, less than three miles from her home in Billesley. She was described by her family as a warm, loving, and dedicated individual who was committed to her work and her children. Her relationship with Williams had lasted approximately two months following her separation from Harrison’s biological father.
Detective Chief Inspector Sarbjit Johal, leading the homicide investigation, expressed his sorrow over the case, stating: 'Wesley Williams has pleaded guilty to the shocking and senseless murders of his partner Yvonne and her baby Harrison, both of whom had their whole lives ahead of them. Yvonne’s family described her as a warm and loving person who was a dedicated professional and absolutely devoted to her two young children. My thoughts are with their family, friends, and the community that they lived in, who are all still struggling to come to terms with their deaths.' The community of Billesley, Birmingham, continues to mourn the loss of these two innocent lives, and the case remains a stark reminder of the devastating impact of domestic violence and familial tragedy.
