MANSFIELD MAN JAILED FOR GROOMING AND ABUSING 15-YEAR-OLD GIRL
A sex offender 'groomed' a 15-year-old girl who now 'cries for her innocence', a court heard.
Wesley Lee, of Audrey Crescent, Mansfield Woodhouse, left his victim struggling to sleep and she missed days of school.
Lee's headline sentence was four years, to sign the sex offenders' register for life, and be on a sexual harm prevention order for 10 years.
Aged 25, Lee pleaded guilty to three offences of sexual activity with a child, and one of causing a child to watch a sexual act between the dates of September 1, 2021, and September 12, 2021.
Nottingham Crown Court heard Lee had groomed and manipulated the teenager before the offences.
When the crimes came to light, the girl's father drove her to a police station where she was video interviewed by officers.
Matthew Smith, mitigating, said Lee accepted full responsibility for his actions and "behaved in an appalling way".
Judge Mark Watson had accepted Lee was genuinely remorseful for his actions before sentencing on Thursday (November 17).
