MANSFIELD WOODHOUSE MAN SENTENCED FOR RABBIT THREAT AND RIFLE ASSAULT
A jealous individual named Jack Nolan sent his former partner a video threatening to shoot her pet rabbit before firing a rifle directly into her face and laughing.
Nottingham Crown Court heard that Nolan’s victim was "petrified" and unaware if the weapon was loaded at the moment he pulled the trigger.
On a separate occasion, Nolan, aged 33, reportedly "slammed her onto the bed," put her in an arm lock, and bit her.
The woman described her emotional and physical distress caused by Nolan's actions.
The judge, Penny Coe KC, described his behavior as "appalling," emphasizing that threatening to shoot a pet rabbit is "upsetting and traumatic," and that waving a rifle in someone's face with the intent to frighten is "much more terrifying." Nolan pleaded guilty to causing a threat of violence with a firearm and common assault.
The court sentenced him to 21 months in jail, suspended for two years, and ordered him to undertake 30 rehabilitation sessions and 120 hours of unpaid work.
The sentencing highlighted that Nolan’s actions, especially in a state of intoxication, were unacceptable, and his remorse was noted.
