DRUNK DAD HEADBUTTED PARTNER AND ATTACKED FAMILY BULLDOG IN PRESTON
Webster Harper, a 33-year-old man, became heavily intoxicated and committed a series of violent acts.He headbutted his partner and kicked her French Bulldog as it tried to protect her during an incident on December 16, 2024.
According to court reports, Harper became jealous and spent five hours interrogating the woman on the phone while she was driving from London to Preston.
Once she arrived home around 5.45am, she found Harper drinking from a vodka bottle inside the house.
He accused her of cheating, pushed her onto the floor, and took her phone to examine it.
When she attempted to call emergency services, the phone lacked a SIM card.
Harper then behaved strangely, humming and singing, while issuing threatening messages like "if you ever leave me, it will be hell." The court heard that he demanded to take a child to school despite being drunk, returned home to drink more vodka, and later jumped on her car to prevent her leaving.
When she returned home after trying to take the toddler to nursery, Harper threatened to assault her and headbutted her, knowing her medical conditions made such an attack more dangerous.
She fled with blood streaming from her, and Harper launched a kick at her dog, which was nearby.
Harper pleaded guilty to charges of animal cruelty, actual bodily harm, and criminal damage to her mobile phone.
During sentencing, the judge described Harper's behavior as controlling and jealous, noting that his drunkenness was a significant factor.
Harper received an 18-month sentence for ABH, with additional sentences for damaging the phone (seven days) and animal cruelty (one month), all suspended for 18 months.
He was ordered to complete 100 hours of unpaid work, attend a relationships course, and stay away from his partner for six years.
The judge emphasized that Harper's alcohol abuse was the root cause and advised him that he should accept that he does not own or control his partner, especially as his children grow older.
