WARRINGTON ABUSER IS JAILED AFTER ASSAULTING WOMEN
A VIOLENT abuser from Warrington has been jailed for nine years.Wayne O'Malley, 39, was sentenced to nine years and one month in prison, with a three-year extended licence.
O'Malley was sentenced at Liverpool Crown Court on Monday, December 4.
The sentencing was presided over by Mr Recorder Cowan, following O'Malley's conviction in October, where a jury found him guilty on several charges.
He attended via video link, wearing a blue sports shirt and grey jogging bottoms, and listened as the court heard the offences for which he was found guilty earlier this year.
The charges included controlling and coercive behaviour, perverting the course of justice, actual bodily harm, assault, and attempted grievous bodily harm.
O'Malley was found guilty of violence against former partners, one of whom read a statement during his sentencing, stating: "I just wish he would leave me alone.
Sometimes I have thought of not wanting to be alive anymore; it's only the thought of my five-year-old daughter that keeps me going.
I still feel the same - I have good days and bad days." The court heard the woman's young daughter still calls O'Malley 'Nasty Wayne.' One incident involved O'Malley in a car with his ex-girlfriend; he spat in her face when her daughter was in the back.
During another car journey, he assaulted her, biting her on the nose and threatening her with violence if she called the police.
After charges were brought, he attempted to persuade her to drop them via social media, leading to an additional charge of perverting the course of justice.
O'Malley also lied about taking another woman on holiday to Turkey, when he was actually with another woman.
Testimony from this woman described his 'Jekyll and Hyde' tendencies, including violence after she checked on him when he appeared upset.
He later assaulted her and stamped on her.
The court also detailed an incident at Butlins in Skegness, where he became enraged after seeing his girlfriend upset over him texting other women, attacking strangers and throwing a chair.
Prosecutor Mr Trevor Parry-Jones outlined O'Malley's previous convictions, including attacking a man with a metal bat in 2009, threatening behaviour in 2006, gambling cheating in 2019, and threatening his then-girlfriend with a knife and screwdriver in 2011.
Defense lawyer Ms Zahra Baqri highlighted his diagnosis of cystic fibrosis, arguing that a long custodial sentence would reduce his life expectancy.
The judge, Mr Recorder Cowan, noted the risk of reoffending and that O'Malley is a 'dangerous offender,' especially to women he has relationships with.
O'Malley was handed a sentence of nine years and one month in prison, with a three-year extended licence.
