CONNAH'S QUAY MAN SENTENCED AFTER LIFE-CHANGING ASSAULT ON PARTNER
Wayne Martin, a 42-year-old man from Church Street in Connah's Quay, was convicted and sentenced for causing a severe injury to his then-partner Cheryl Ann Woodfin by punching her in the eye.
The incident occurred during their relationship, where he punched her with force and delivered repeated kicks.
The court heard that on February 20, he punched her in the back of the head when she was face down, and after she turned, he struck her again so forcefully that she lost sight in one eye, leading to a devastating life-changing injury.
Martin had previously admitted to offences of wounding without intent, common assault, and assault occasioning actual bodily harm.
During the sentencing at Mold Crown Court, Judge Niclas Parry described the attack as a dreadful 14-month period of violence and told the offender that his actions had caused serious harm.
Martin was jailed for three years and four months, and an indefinite restraining order was imposed.
