CONNAH'S QUAY MAN JAILED FOR 'WICKED' SEXUAL ASSAULT
Wayne Davies, of Dovey Close, Connah's Quay, appeared before Mold Crown Court for sentencing on Monday (November 24).The 44-year-old had been convicted after a trial of assault by penetration and sexual assault.
The court heard that the offences took place in 2023.
In a victim impact statement, she said in the wake of the incident she has "found myself at my absolute lowest".
"It left me feeling violated, vulnerable and numb," she said.
She also talked about the trauma of having to re-live what happened during the trial.
"Court was an extremely stressful time and an experience I never want to have to go through again," she said.
"Even though I couldn't see him (the defendant), knowing he was listening to me telling what happened aloud was unsettling.
I’m hoping to come out of this a stronger person.
This still has such a hold on me after two years.
I just need some closure now." Judge Simon Mills described it as a "wicked and sinister" assault.
He sentenced Davies to six years imprisonment.
The defendant was also made subject to a 12-year restraining order from the victim.
