WAYNE JORDAN FROM SOUTHAMPTON JAILED FOR SEXUAL ABUSE OF YOUNG GIRL
In December 2013, a man from Southampton named Wayne Jordan was sentenced to three years in prison after being convicted of historic sexual offenses involving a young girl. The crimes for which Jordan was held accountable occurred when he was just 16 years old, although he was 23 at the time of sentencing.
Prosecutor Kerry Maylin addressed the court, explaining that the allegations only came to light after the victim, who was struggling with emotional difficulties and engaging in self-harm, confided in a friend living nearby.
This friend then disclosed the information to her mother, which ultimately prompted the police to investigate the matter.
During the proceedings, it was revealed that Jordan had reached out to the victim via social media, where he issued an apology for his actions.
In the message, he expressed remorse for how he had treated her and assured her that such behavior would never happen again.
Wayne Jordan, who resided on Orion Close in Lordshill, Southampton, pleaded guilty to two counts of rape and two counts of sexual assault.
In his defense, solicitor Anne Brown highlighted that Jordan had acknowledged his wrongdoing and had made efforts to ensure the girl understood he would not challenge her account, even if it meant going to trial.
Given the nature of his offenses and his previous good character, the court decided to impose a sentence of three years' imprisonment and ordered Jordan to be placed on the sex offenders register indefinitely, reflecting the seriousness of his crimes and the need for ongoing monitoring.
