BODYBUILDER JAILED FOR STALKING EX WITH TRACKING DEVICES AND ABUSIVE BEHAVIOR
An "immature and insecure" bodybuilder named Wayne Jones hidden tracking devices on an ex-partner's car to monitor her movements, court heard. When his actions were uncovered, Jones bombarded his former girlfriend with messages and shouted through her letterbox, demanding his tracker back.
Jones, who has a long criminal record dating back to the 1990s including offences such as violence, dishonesty, dangerous driving, and assaults, pleaded guilty to stalking causing serious alarm or distress at Swansea Crown Court.
Prosecutor Nicola Powell stated that Jones had been in an "on-off relationship" with a woman until September, when she caught him outside her house trying to attach a tracking device to her car.
She described how the woman then found a tracker fixed to her vehicle when she checked.
When Jones appeared at her property demanding to see her again, she refused, and he threw stones at her house.
Later, he returned shouting through her letterbox, accusing her of being in a new relationship.
Police located Jones hiding in bushes nearby, described as "irate and annoyed," believing his ex- had a man inside her home.
Jones was found with 73 Valium tablets, claiming he bought them intending to go on the run to London.
A victim statement read in court expressed her feelings of betrayal and fear.
Jones, from Auburn Avenue, Sandfields, was previously convicted of battery in 2017 and coercive control in 2018, and was jailed in 2020 with his son for drug trafficking.
He acknowledged his issues but blamed steroid use for his past behavior.
The judge sentenced him to nine months in prison with half to be served in custody and the rest on licence, noting that his behaviour was "the mark of an immature and insecure man" and warning him to "stay off" steroids.
