WAYNE DUNBAR FROM INVERNESS ADMITS TO DOWNLOADING INDECENT IMAGES OF CHILDREN
In April 2017, a man from Inverness, identified as Wayne Dunbar, faced serious legal proceedings after he admitted to downloading indecent images of children. The incident took place at his residence on Trafford Avenue, where police investigations uncovered disturbing evidence of his activities.
On the day of the court hearing, Dunbar, aged 47, pleaded guilty at Inverness Sheriff Court to the charges related to the period between April 7, 2016, and May 17, 2016.
The court was informed that the police had been alerted to the presence of illicit material on devices located at his home address.
This intelligence prompted a search, during which a computer and a mobile phone were seized for forensic analysis.
Following a detailed examination of these devices, authorities recovered a total of 227 images, with the majority stored on the computer.
The images were classified as being at the lower end of the obscenity scale, indicating they were of a less severe nature but nonetheless illegal.
Further analysis of Dunbar’s mobile phone revealed an additional 46 images depicting children, all of whom appeared to be female and as young as four years old.
The case was scheduled to be sentenced on May 10, with Sheriff Margaret Neilson presiding.
Dunbar was ordered to remain on the sex offender’s register and was granted continued bail pending sentencing.
His legal representative, Shahid Latif, stated that he would reserve his comments until the sentencing hearing, which is set to determine the final outcome of the case.
