BLACKBURN MAN DENIES RAPE OF CHILD, TO FACE TRIAL IN 2026

A Blackburn man, Wayne Cook, aged 37, will stand trial after denying an offence of rape against a girl under 13.

He also entered not guilty pleas to charges of causing or inciting a girl under 13 to engage in sexual activity, causing a child under 13 to watch or look at sexual activity, and assaulting a girl under 13 by touching.

The alleged offences took place between September and November 2022.

Cook, of Heaton Street, is scheduled to appear at Preston Crown Court for a pre-trial review on July 24 next year.

The trial is set for September 21, 2026, and is expected to last one week.
