Nazmin with a hammer and knife in her own kitchen, unfolded on January 29, 2024, at their home in Kings Norton, Birmingham.
At Birmingham Crown Court on Friday, 21-year-old Wasif Hussain was sentenced to 15 years in prison, while his 19-year-old wife, Nabela Tabassum, received a nine-year jail term.
The court heard the horrific incident was captured on a CCTV camera inside the family home.
Prosecutors detailed how Hussain struck Mrs.
Nazmin's head with a hammer, then strangled and stabbed her, while Tabassum restrained the victim.
The motive was reportedly related to domestic resentments, with the couple planning to burn her body afterward.
Despite severe injuries, Mrs.
Nazmin managed to lock herself in a room and call the police.
Her young daughter witnessed the aftermath.
The case highlighted the premeditated nature of the attack, with the couple buying an aerosol to burn the body, and emphasized the severity of their actions by the judge.
Hussain, who has ADHD and autism, blamed his father for his mother’s death and married Tabassum, who was assessed as being in the bottom one percent for IQ, just weeks before the attack.
