WARREN WILD FROM HOLMFIRTH SENTENCED FOR CHILD SEX OFFENSES IN MANCHESTER
In a disturbing case that has shocked the community of Holmfirth and the wider West Yorkshire area, Warren Wild, a 51-year-old man, was convicted of heinous crimes involving the exploitation of underage boys.The case was heard at Manchester's Minshull Street Crown Court, where Wild received a six-year prison sentence for his involvement in grooming and abusing minors through online platforms and in person.
Wild, who was described as a married family man and father of two, led a double life that was only uncovered after a police investigation.
His secret activities included grooming two teenage boys via the Grindr app, a popular social networking platform for gay men.
The court was told that Wild used a false name on his online profile, which he employed to initiate contact with vulnerable teenagers.
The first victim, aged 13 at the time, was contacted by Wild in August 2016.
The court heard that their conversations quickly turned sexual, with Wild encouraging the boy to send sexually explicit images.
The defendant reciprocated by sending indecent photos of himself.
The victim, who initially told Wild he was 15, was manipulated into engaging in sexual conversations and acts.
Wild's interactions with his second victim began in December of the same year.
Prosecutor Lisa Boocock explained that Wild sought explicit images from the boy, asking for photos of his boxers and genitals.
Despite the boy claiming to be 16, he was actually younger, which Wild was aware of but continued to pursue.
The court revealed that Wild arranged to meet the second victim after offering him £100.
He picked the boy up in his car and drove him to a secluded car park, where sexual activities took place.
Following the encounter, Wild paid the boy, who then blocked him on social media.
