NOTTINGHAMSHIRE OFFENDER JAILED FOR PERSISTENT STALKING AND COURT ORDER BREACH
Waldemar Czekanski, aged 47, engaged in longstanding and hazardous stalking against his former partner.Over a period of two years, from September 2021 to 2023, he persistently contacted her unwantedly and made multiple visits to her residence.
His previous actions included damaging her home, unlawfully gaining entry to her house, and making threats to her life.
On September 20, 2023, Czekanski admitted to stalking his former partner in Mansfield, which led to the issuance of an interim Stalking Protection Order the next day.
This order was subsequently extended to become indefinite, aiming to prevent any further harassment.
After being released from custody on licence in November, with a confirmed address in Hucknall, evidence from probation officers revealed he intended to rekindle his relationship with the victim, thus violating the court-imposed order.
During a police check in December, officers found that Czekanski had made numerous outgoing phone calls to the victim, breaching the protection order.
He was charged with this violation and pleaded guilty before Nottingham Magistrates’ Court, resulting in a four-month prison sentence.
Detective Inspector Abi Goucher noted the importance of strict enforcement, stating that Czekanski’s breach led directly to his jail term and illustrating how Stalking Protection Orders can effectively shield victims.
PC Sandeep Mann pointed out that reviewing phone records was sufficient to demonstrate ongoing stalking activity, enabling his swift arrest and conviction.
