HUCKNALL SEX OFFENDER DAVID PARRY HANDED SUSPENDED PRISON SENTENCE FOR REPEATED BREACHES

A sex offender has been hauled before a court for his sixth breach of a court order to keep tabs on his movements after he left home "with all his belongings".

David Parry is on the sex offenders' register until 2024 after he pleaded guilty, in October 2014, to sexually assaulting a woman by touching her over clothing at a party.

The 34 year old, of Watnall Road, Hucknall, is required to annually tell police where he is living but failed to do so.

A check with his landlord revealed he had "left with all his belongings", said Gregor Purcell, prosecuting, at Nottingham Crown Court.

This led to Parry's arrest and interview, where he claimed he had attended Byron House - the home of Central Police Station in the city - to inform officers of a change of address.

But there was no record of his visit, and Mr Purcell added that this was a "deliberate failure to comply with requirements" - he knew he should register and deliberately moved and failed to do so.

This was Parry's sixth failure to comply with the requirement.

Four years after he was sentenced, he was actually jailed for 10 weeks for failing to comply with the notification requirements.

Four more breaches followed in 2019, with his barrister, Laura Pitman, explaining to the court the reason for those were because information he was a registered sex offender was disclosed within his community.

He fled abroad but returned to face the music and was handed a suspended prison sentence.

Now he has breached the order again, which he accepted, after failing to complete his annual registration of his address.

Miss Pitman told the court on Friday (March 3), "we are now 15 months on", and in that time he has made tremendous progress and found privately-rented accommodation and employment.

He has since completed his notification requirement, she added.

Recorder Ruth Coffey referred to the recent failure to comply with the requirements on November 23, 2021, and his required continued notification until 2024.

"I do believe this was a deliberate failure," she added, as she imposed a 24-week prison sentence, suspended for 18 months, ten rehabilitation activity requirement days, and unpaid work for 80 hours.
