PROLIFIC OFFENDER VINCENT WILLS JAILED FOR ASSAULT AND BURGLARY
A PROLIFIC offender who assaulted his former partner and then stole £5,000 worth of her belongings has been jailed.Vincent Wills appeared before Liverpool Crown Court to be sentenced for assault by beating, burglary of a dwelling and fraud by false representation.
The court heard that the 46-year-old and his former partner were in a disagreement in Warrington on July 18, 2024, over a set of spare keys to her property.
During this argument, Wills grabbed his former partner and assaulted her, leaving her with bruising and swelling.
Then, two days later on July 20, Wills propped open a window to her house while she was out, snuck in and stole numerous items.
This includes an Xbox, PlayStation, games, a VR headset, and jewellery, with all items worth a combined total of £5,000.
The court heard that Wills then took some of the items to a Cash Converters and sold them, earning £1,260 and claimed them as his own.
It was heard that upon his arrest, the 46-year-old provided a no comment interview and attempted to claim that the items were his.
Some items were recovered, but others were not leaving his victim without around £2,000 worth of her belongings.
Wills’ victim told the court that she felt ‘ashamed’ and ‘embarrassed’ and was left with bruising and swelling to her face following the assault for several weeks.
“I feel scared for my life and have to look over my shoulder wherever I go,” she said.
“It’s changed my life completely.” It was heard that his victim can’t sleep until it’s daylight outside as she feels unsafe, and that she has to ‘look around the area’ before she leaves the house.
Wills, of Greatmeadow in Northampton, has 29 previous convictions for 59 offences, including when he was sentenced to 26 months imprisonment in December 2024 for theft by an employee, and battery in 2011, 2014 and 2017.
The 46-year-old was sentenced to a total of three years imprisonment, and a restraining order was put in place to protect his victim for the next seven years.
