2007: CROMER MAN VINCENT MITCHELL JAILED FOR SEX ASSAULTS ON YOUNG GIRLS
A Cromer man was yesterday jailed for seven years and placed on the sex offenders register for life for a string of sex assaults on two young girls.Vincent Mitchell, 43, started sexually abusing one of the victims when she was seven and the other girl when she was 11, Norwich Crown Court heard.
The assaults date back to the early 1980s and the court heard how the sex abuse has had a great impact on the lives of both girls.
Mitchell, of Macdonald Road, Cromer, was found guilty following a trial of six offences of gross indecency with one of the victims and six counts of indecent assault on her and also six indecent assaults on the second girl.
Jailing him, Judge Simon Barham said: 'These are not isolated offences, there are 18 offences in all.
It is quite plain they have had a serious impact on both the young girls.' He also banned Mitchell from ever working with children.
