MAN ASSAULTED WOMAN BY PENETRATION IN FLINTSHIRE, COURT TOLD
Vincent Davies, whose whereabouts are not fixed, appeared at Mold Crown Court on Thursday morning via video link from prison to receive his sentence.The defendant, aged 54, previously admitted to committing an assault by penetration.
Prosecutor Michael Whitty informed the court that the incident took place in Flintshire.
After police investigations, Davies admitted his involvement.
A segment of the victim's statement was read out by Mr.
Whitty, highlighting that the assault caused physical pain as well as psychological trauma.
During the hearing, Matthew Dunford, representing Davies, emphasized that his client's main mitigating factor was the guilty plea made at the earlier court stage.
"He cooperated with police during his interview and accepted responsibility," Dunford said.
"He shows sincere remorse for his actions." "Davies has no prior criminal record and has historically been recognized as a diligent, law-abiding worker." "He spent most of his working years at a business involved in metal fabrication and building supplies." The solicitor noted that before the offence, Davies was grieving after losing both his estranged wife and mother, which he suggested may have influenced his mental state.
He added, "These personal tragedies likely affected his emotional wellbeing." Judge Rhys Rowlands addressed Davies, stating that the defendant had acknowledged his actions and expressed remorse during police interviews.
"The impact on the victim has been profound," he said.
The judge also observed that Davies seemed to have minimized the seriousness of the offence in pre-sentence discussions.
Davies was sentenced to 42 months in prison and received a 10-year restraining order for the victim’s protection.
He is also required to register as a sex offender indefinitely and is prohibited from employment related to working with children or vulnerable adults.
