VICTOR MICHELL, PENZANCE JAILED AT TRURO CROWN COURT
A man who threatened, controlled, and abused a woman over several months, leaving her feeling ‘terrified, petrified and alone’, has been sent to prison.
Victor Michell, 48, of Albert Street, Penzance, was sentenced at Truro Crown Court today [Thursday 7 September] to three years and two months in prison.
He pleaded guilty to coercive and controlling behaviour at a previous hearing.
Officers praised the strength of the victim who supported the investigation throughout.
Voice recordings captured Michell making threats such as ‘You won’t wake up tomorrow’ and other threats to kill her.
During an incident in a hotel, Michell damaged the room and refused to let the victim leave.
When she managed to escape, he chased her and fashioned a noose out of his belt, counting down until she returned to the room, prompting other guests to call police.
