MAN GIVEN COMMUNITY ORDER AFTER ASSAULT
A man from Penzance has received a community supervision order after pleading guilty to assaulting a woman.Gareth Lesley John Bodilly, aged 31 and residing on Rosparvah Gardens, was sentenced following an incident on August 30 during which he assaulted a female.
The court's judgment included a community order that mandates him to complete a rehabilitation activity program and perform 150 hours of unpaid work.
Additionally, a restraining order was issued against him.
He was also ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £95 and prosecution costs amounting to £300.
The conviction for assault is part of a broader history involving family court cases concerning child custody arrangements.
During earlier hearings, concerns were raised about his use of alcohol and drugs.
A judge previously stipulated that Bodilly could only have contact with his children if he proved abstinence from substances and was able to demonstrate psychological stability.
Safeguarding reports used in family court proceedings highlighted potential risks to the children, with records showing he missed at least one scheduled court appearance.
The restraining order remains in effect to protect the victim.
