CORNWALL PUB CHEF KYLE CRIPPS JAILED FOR SEXUAL ASSAULTS ON TEENS
A former pub chef in Cornwall has been jailed for more than two years after he admitted sexually assaulting teenage girls.Kyle Cripps, aged 32, appeared at Truro Crown Court today (Friday) for sentence after pleading guilty on January 12 to a series of sexual assaults on young women.
He had originally pleaded not guilty but changed his plea after being presented with text messages he sent to his victims, during a pre-trial hearing in August 2024.
Cripps is known locally for previously working at his family's pub, The Pirate Inn in Alverton Road, Penzance, where his father was the landlord.
In 2024, he was charged with six counts of sexual assault of girls in their early teens.
The prosecution said that during the incidents, Cripps touched a number of girls inappropriately and made lewd remarks to them.
He told them he wanted to have sex with them when they came of age, and grabbed their clothes to look down their tops, touch their bottoms, and rub their breasts and thighs, claiming he was a sex addict and couldn't help himself.
He initially joked about his behavior, but it escalated to more inappropriate touching and lewd comments.
When complaints were made, Cripps apologized, but the behavior continued.
He became known to police after a colleague reported him, leading to charges.
The court also noted that Cripps had been on a suspended sentence from Plymouth Crown Court for similar offences.
Victim impact statements revealed the assaults severely affected their mental health, leaving them angry, with low confidence, suffering panic attacks and anxiety, and damaging their relationships with men.
Despite support from his wife and mother-in-law, the court sentenced Cripps to 27 months in prison, emphasizing the girls were children at the time of his offences, and highlighting his prior suspended sentence for similar crimes.
