2022: VASKO PANOV JAILED FOR AFFRAY AND DOMESTIC ATTACK AT UPTON
A THUG has been given a lengthy jail sentence for attacking his wife and threatening to kill her.
Vasko Panov appeared in the dock of Courtroom 3 at Worcester Crown Court to be sentenced for affray, assault occasioning actual bodily harm, and making a threat to kill.
Thomas Kenning, prosecuting, said Panov — of no fixed abode — went into Upton Pizza and Kebab in Old Street where his wife was working.
The prosecutor said Panov was drunk and made derogatory comments to her.
"Outside the defendant began to bang his fist on the shop window," the prosecutor said.
"While (the victim) was preparing an order the defendant went next to her and grabbed a large knife.
She was scared.
He was waving the knife shouting 'do you want me to slaughter you'?" The offence was aggravated by children being present and only ended when her brother arrived to disarm him.
The 50-year-old returned home to Bulgaria but later came back and moved back in with his wife.
On October 18 last year, Panov, drunk again, assaulted his wife, saying he would "slaughter and finish her".
The police said Panov hit her multiple times and strangled her to the point of unconsciousness.
When police and her brother arrived, Panov told them: "I will kill you, I will burn you." The judge sentenced him to a total of 34 months in prison.
