BELFAST MAN NARROWLY AVOIDS JAIL FOR HARASSMENT AND BREACHES OF RESTRAINING ORDERS
Tyson Arutura, a resident of Iris Street in west Belfast, was convicted of breaching non-molestation and restraining orders.
The court was informed that in October of the previous year, Arutura appeared at his former partner's residence at 4am and started banging on her door.
The victim also reported receiving unwanted calls the night before.
When questioned, Arutura denied visiting the property, but CCTV footage contradicted his statement, showing him there.
He has a history of similar breaches; in June last year, he was handed a suspended sentence, with another in January.
Despite claims from his solicitor that he was making progress with probation services and had experienced past trauma, the court emphasized the seriousness of his record.
The judge warned him that his current behavior brought him as close as ever to imprisonment and handed down a final warning, with any further breaches resulting in custody.
The sentence included 100 hours of community service and a two-year probation order.
