SCOTTISH MAN GUILTY OF KNIFE THREAT AND ASSAULT ON PARTNER
A man named Tyler Ellis, aged 27, committed a violent assault on his girlfriend in Edinburgh. He was found to have entered her bedroom and demanded her phone passcode while causing her to feel pressure on her neck; she was able to pry his fingers off and shout for help.
During the incident, Ellis threatened her multiple times, including a statement where he said, "I’ve decided I’m going to kill you," and he wielded a knife as he chased her in the street while yelling, "F***ing speak to me." Following his arrest, Ellis broke bail conditions by repeatedly calling her—94 times on one day and 76 on another—and made threats to murder her if she was seen with another man.
The court heard that he had also threatened her family and explicitly told her, “I’ve decided I’m going to f***ing kill you,” and the victim saw him with a knife in his hand.
The woman sustained minor injuries such as a graze to her hand and superficial neck injuries.
Ellis was later charged with assault, threatening behaviour, and bail breach.
He appeared in Edinburgh Sheriff Court and admitted to these offences, with the sheriff deferring the sentence until later in the month and ordering him to remain on remand at Saughton Prison.
