WELSHPOOL MAN JAILED AGAIN FOR BREACHING SEXUAL HARM PREVENTION ORDER BY DELETING BROWSING HISTORY
A SEX offender has been sent back to prison for deleting his browser history - months after being released from a previous sentence for the same offence.
Tony Jackson, of Mason's Yard in Welshpool, was sentenced to 12 months behind bars after his computer use put him in breach of a sexual harm prevention order.
Judge Rhys Rowlands stated the discovery was made after 'dubious photographs' were found on the 70-year-old's phone.
It was revealed at Mold Crown Court on Wednesday (February 26) that Jackson's phone was inspected at a meeting with probation in Newtown on January 7.
Images of semi-naked women were found and he admitted he had been accessing pornographic websites on his laptop.
His machine was inspected, and it was discovered he had deleted his browser history.
When questioned, Jackson, who has prostate cancer, told police: 'I knew you would be coming to check my devices sooner rather than later so why not delete them?' Sentencing Jackson, Judge Rowlands said: 'I'm afraid it is abundantly clear that you have no interest in learning and simply complying with the terms of this sexual harm prevention order.
You understood the terms of the order when they were made and this was a deliberate breach.' He continued: 'You have been non-compliant yet again.
There is no reasonable prospect of your rehabilitation currently and in your case, a prison sentence is required as you are reverting to your old ways.' Jackson was jailed for downloading indecent images of children and commissioning a sexual offence with a child in July 2018.
He was made the subject of an indefinite sexual harm prevention order following his early release last summer, but he breached that order by using incognito mode and private internet browsers, leading to his return to jail in March 2024.
His meeting in January was part of the conditions of his release.
