POWYS MAN IN COURT ON CHARGES OF SEXUALLY ASSAULTING A CHILD
A POWYS man facing multiple charges of sexual assault against a child will appear at the crown court in the new year.Thomas Fewtrell, 32, attended Welshpool Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, December 2, facing nine charges in total.
Two of the charges include assaulting a girl under 13 by penetration with a part of the body, which can only be heard at the higher court.
Fewtrell is also charged with one offence of inciting a girl under 13 to engage in sexual activity and two of sexually assaulting a girl under 13.
These offences are alleged to have occurred between January 31, 2021, and July 1, 2022.
There are also four charges relating to making indecent images of children.
It is alleged Fewtrell made 20 still and 230 moving Category A images; 105 still and 1 moving Category B images; and 532 still and 118 moving Category C images.
Lastly, it is alleged Fewtrell was in possession of two prohibited images.
These four offences are said to have been committed on March 17, 2023 at the same location.
Fewtrell, of The Chestnuts, Cross Houses, Shrewsbury, entered no pleas at court this week, with magistrates sending the case to Mold Crown Court.
Magistrates told Fewtrell he will need to appear there on January 9, 2026.
He was granted unconditional bail until that date.
