TIFFANY GUEST'S HORRIFIC ANIMAL CRUELTY IN KENILWORTH AND WARWICKSHIRE

In a disturbing case of animal neglect and cruelty, Tiffany Guest, a woman originally from Kenilworth, Warwickshire, was found responsible for leaving her pets to die of starvation after she vacated her flat. The incident, which shocked the local community, involved the abandonment of two cats named Reggie and Ronnie, along with a Staffordshire bull terrier-type dog named Kray, in an unoccupied property in Kenilworth.

According to reports, Guest left her pets behind in her flat on Winn Close, along with her links to Washbourne Road, Leamington Spa CV31 2LD. Neighbors, concerned about the prolonged absence of the animals and the increasingly distressing conditions inside the flat, contacted the police approximately ten days after she had moved out. When authorities gained entry into the property on May 30, 2017, they were met with a heartbreaking scene: the bodies of the starved cats and an emaciated dog, later identified as Kray, who had survived by scavenging the remains of the deceased cats.

The police investigation revealed the shocking extent of the neglect. The dog, Kray, had survived by eating Ronnie, one of the cats, after running out of other food sources, including scavenged bin contents. The scene inside the flat was described as untidy and deplorable, with the animals having trawled through leftover food in a desperate attempt to survive. The RSPCA was alerted to the situation and took Kray into their care for treatment. Photographs released by the animal welfare organization showed the extent of the suffering, with images of the emaciated dog and the remains of the cats strewn across the filthy flat.

Further investigation traced Guest to a location near her workplace, just a mile from the flat where she abandoned her pets. It was discovered that she had fled the country to Malta to evade justice after being informed she faced charges related to animal welfare offences. She returned to the UK approximately thirteen months later and was detained at the border by authorities. Subsequently, she was brought before magistrates to face charges of animal cruelty. Despite being granted bail, Guest again fled the country, this time to Malta.

Her re-entry into the UK on October 10, 2019, led to her arrest once more. She was remanded in custody and appeared before Birmingham Magistrates’ Court. The case drew significant attention, with the RSPCA releasing distressing images of the animals’ suffering. The photographs depicted the remains of Reggie and Ronnie, as well as Kray, who was later renamed Bobby by the police. The dog, now recovered in the RSPCA’s care, has made a remarkable recovery after being properly fed and cared for.

Inspector Boris Lasserre of the RSPCA expressed his outrage at the cruelty inflicted upon the animals. He stated, “It is incomprehensible to think the suffering these pets must have endured and how terrified they must have been for such a long period of time before the cats died of starvation. It must have been terrible for Kray to watch as the cats died in front of him. There was evidence the pets had scavenged to try and feed themselves as the bin contents were all over the kitchen floor. Just 14 days later, by being fed properly in RSPCA care, he made an amazing recovery with a significant increase in weight. Warwickshire Police officers did an incredible job in finding Kray, who they renamed Bobby, just in time as he would not have survived much longer. He is a lovely, gentle dog and has now been re-homed.”

During the court proceedings, it was revealed that Guest was suffering from depression at the time of the incident, which was presented as part of her mitigation. Ultimately, she was sentenced to 18 weeks in jail, ordered to pay £372 in costs and charges, and was banned from keeping any animals for a period of 15 years. This case highlights the tragic consequences of neglect and the importance of animal welfare enforcement in Warwickshire and beyond.
