SIX YEARS FOR RAPIST IN ABDUCTION
A SEX fiend who abducted and raped a young mum eight weeks after she gave birth has been jailed for six-and-a-half years.At the High Court in Glasgow, Thomas Wilson, 23, was also ordered to be monitored in the community for two years after his release from prison.
Temporary judge Ian Peebles QC told Wilson: "Rape is always a very serious crime, but this crime is more than normally serious." As reported in later editions of yesterday's Evening Times, Wilson was convicted of abducting and raping the 19-year-old woman after a four-day trial.
Wilson followed her as she walked home at midnight on September 11 last year and conned her into entering his car.
He waved to her and she thought it was her cousin - but realised her mistake when she got into the car.
Wilson locked the doors and told his terrified victim: "Don't tell my girlfriend about this." He took her to the grounds of Glasgow's Stobhill Hospital and raped her.
The young mum, who had needed stitches after a difficult first birth, pleaded with Wilson to let her go.
She tried to get out the car but he punched her on the mouth and told her: "We can do this the easy way or the hard way." The victim, who can't be named for legal reasons, told the court: "I was crying.
I was hoping I would get out alive." Wilson wasn't wearing a shirt and she noticed he had a tattoo on his left shoulder showing a bulldog with a bloodied hand coming out of its mouth.
After raping her, Wilson, of Lenzie Terrace, Springburn, Glasgow, drove off as if nothing had happened.
At traffic lights he opened the door and pushed his traumatised victim out of the car.
She ran to a garage for help and police were called.
