COVENTRY MAN JAILED FOR KILLING MOTHER OVER 'NOT MILKY ENOUGH' TEA
A son claimed he stabbed his mother to death - knifing her 17 times - after she said a cup of tea he made her was "not milky enough".
Thomas Westwood, of Rosemary Close in Tile Hill, Coventry, was sentenced to 16 years in prison after killing 68-year-old Susan Westwood.
The incident occurred following an argument at the victim's address in Cavendish Road, Coventry, on Friday, December 1, 2018.
Westwood was arrested at the scene and claimed the row started because he made a cup of tea for his mother which was "not milky enough".
The post-mortem examination concluded that Susan Westwood died from 17 stab wounds.
Westwood admitted manslaughter on the day his trial was due to begin last June, claiming his mother bullied him daily and was to blame for initiating the knife attack, asserting she attacked him first with a knife.
The court determined that Westwood, who was 46 at the time, was responsible for the death of his mother after a heated argument that escalated into a fatal stabbing.
On Tuesday, April 16, Westwood was jailed for 16 years for manslaughter on the grounds of diminished responsibility.
