MAN HAS BEEN JAILED AFTER A TERRIFYING ATTEMPT TO RUN OVER HIS EX-PARTNER
On the 24th of June, 2025, authorities responded to an urgent call on Addington Road, Irthlingborough, involving a woman who reported her ex-boyfriend, Aaron Matthew Wright, 39, had attempted to run her over. The woman indicated that they had argued earlier, and Wright had stalked her through the streets before his actions.
Video recordings from nearby security cameras showed Wright driving onto the pavements and blocking her route.
He then reversed his vehicle directly at her.
Luckily, she avoided injury and was able to escape.
Police investigations uncovered that Wright had a history of violence, with two previous assaults in April 2025.
Records show he had bitten the woman’s hand in one incident and strangled her in another, cutting off her breathing.
Wright was detained and formally charged with a series of offences, including criminal damage, deliberate strangulation, dangerous driving, assault, and controlling and coercive behaviour throughout an 18-month period.
According to law enforcement, Wright’s obsessive jealousy resulted in highly controlling conduct affecting the woman’s everyday life.
In court, Wright admitted to all charges in December at Northampton Crown Court.
He was sentenced to four years incarceration on January 29.
This lengthy sentence sends a strong message that domestic violence and controlling conduct are offences that will face serious consequences.
