Father jailed for brutal domestic assault and strangulation

FATHER JAILED FOR BRUTAL DOMESTIC ASSAULT AND STRANGULATION

Thomas Mobbs, a resident of Hollinscroft Court in Upper Tean, was convicted of multiple charges including assault causing actual bodily harm, deliberate strangulation, and harassment.

Prosecutor Alison Whalley outlined that Mobbs assaulted his partner by headbutting her, grabbing her, and throwing her around as if she were a rag doll, before punching her on the right cheek and constricting her neck.

The victim suffered symptoms such as nausea, dizziness, swelling and bruising near her eye, a sore mouth, and cuts on her chest.

Although Mobbs was granted bail with the condition to stay away from her, he later violated these conditions by sending her a friend request on Snapchat, making a brief phone call, and visiting her street.

She reported feeling scared for her safety and that of her children, describing feelings of violation, shame, and humiliation.

At Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court, Mobbs received a 27-month prison sentence and was ordered to stay away from her and Cheadle for a decade through a restraining order.

It was noted in court records that he admitted guilt, and the judge highlighted his employment hardships, addiction issues, and behavioral problems as factors influencing the sentencing.
