DUMBARTON SEX OFFENDER JAILED AFTER BREACHING PROBATION
A SEX offender who failed to inform the authorities he had moved address has breached probation and been sent back to jail.Thomas Lees, 28, was placed on the register for three-and-a-half years in January 2008 and jailed for 39 weeks.
He had carried out a catalogue of violent attacks and flashed his private parts at a female police officer.
Soon after his release, however, he ended up back in court when he failed to tell the police that he had moved address in January this year.
The Sex Offenders Act requires him to inform police within three days of moving.
He was placed on probation for this offence but was unable to keep out of trouble, and was back at Dumbarton Sheriff Court on Thursday to be sentenced for two other crimes.
On May 1 this year on Dumbarton Road, Dalmuir, Lees, was found carrying a metal pole deemed to be an offensive weapon, and kicked shop shutters, while shouting and swearing.
Then on September 11 he assaulted a member of staff in ASDA, St James' Retail Park, Dumbarton.
Lees had previously pled guilty to assault and breaching the peace on two occasions.
Lees' lawyer said that his client had been drinking on both these occasions and that when he was drinking he got out of control.
Sheriff Mhairi McTaggart told Lees, formerly of Whiteford Avenue, Bellsmyre, that the latest offence at ASDA was the last straw and jailed him for six months.
