DUMBARTON MAN BANNED FROM CONTACTING ABUSED PARTNER
A man who subjected his partner to years of abuse has been banned from contacting her for three years.Iain MacPhee previously pleaded guilty to a course of behaviour that was abusive to a partner or ex between April 1, 2019 and December 21, 2024 in Dumbarton.
The 47-year-old repeatedly shouted, swore and uttered abusive remarks.
He repeatedly threatened to phone and criticise her to her mother, and in September 2020 seized her by the wrist and twisted her hand backwards.
MacPhee, of Glasgow Road, Dumbarton, further criticised her ability as a mother, teacher and wife and repeatedly sent abusive messages.
The crime was aggravated by being against a partner or ex.
Sentence had been deferred for three months for him to behave himself.
He returned to Dumbarton Sheriff Court on February 3 for a final sentence.
Defense solicitor Scott Adair said his client had issues with alcohol but had "probably been addressed" by MacPhee.
Sheriff Maxwell Hendry said MacPhee had demonstrated there was no repetition of the behaviour after pleading guilty at the first opportunity.
He put him under social work supervision for 18 months and must take any alcohol counselling or treatment as they advise.
And he must do 160 hours of unpaid work in the community within a year.
