DUMBARTON MAN THREATENED EX WITH HOE AND THREW AGAINST TV
A man pleaded guilty to throwing his former partner of more than 20 years against a TV.Nicky Gordon was about to go before a jury on trial for the violent attack when he changed his plea at the last minute.
He had been in a relationship for about 26 years with the woman, ending about six years ago.
There had been contact and she would sometimes stay at his Murroch Avenue, Dumbarton, home, heard Dumbarton Sheriff Court on December 2.
On June 3, 2024 both had been consuming alcohol and words were exchanged around money.
Gordon, 42, suggested they should both sleep.
After the woman had gone to bed, her ex dragged her from the bed, causing her to fall to the floor.
He struck her on the head and threatened her with a garden hoe.
When she ran into the living room, he chased her, then picked her up and threw her into the TV.
The woman called 999.
Police arrived and Gordon let them in.
Officers found his ex visibly upset, stating her face and ribs were sore.
No ambulance was available so cops took her to hospital but she required no treatment.
Gordon was also taken and checked at hospital before being released and arrested.
Gordon pleaded guilty to seizing the woman on the body, dragging her from a bed, striking her on the head, threatening her with a hoe or similar, pursuing her and picking her up and throwing her against a TV to her injury.
It was aggravated by being against a partner or ex.
The Crown accepted he was not guilty of shouting, swearing, and throwing personal items into a close.
Gordon was given a new bail address in Renton and will be sentenced in January.
Sheriff Maxwell Hendry said there was a previous "worrying" conviction in 2020 and needed reports prepared.
"Every conceivable sentence will have to be considered," he added.
