NEATH MAN JAILED FOR BRUTAL DOMESTIC ASSAULT ON PARTNER
Thomas Jones, under the influence of cocaine and alcohol during the incident, viciously assaulted his partner Emily Lewis, causing permanent marks and injuries.Emily described how Jones repeatedly punched her and strangled her to the point of nearly suffocating, leading her to plea for him to kill her due to the intense pain.
She also revealed that she was injured all over her body.
When Emily’s mother intervened, Jones assaulted her as well, hitting her and causing a bleeding nose.
The police responded to the scene, and Emily was transported to Morriston Hospital in Swansea, where she received treatment for serious injuries including a head wound, a fractured cheekbone, and extensive bruising.
A photograph on her phone later confirmed the severity of her injuries, especially noting a deep head wound likely caused by a blood-splattered Alexa device found at the scene.
Initially denying the charges, Jones changed his plea to guilty shortly before the trial, admitting to causing grievous bodily harm and assault.
He was sentenced to 18 months behind bars for the attack on Emily and an extra two months for assaulting her mother, with the sentences to be served concurrently.
A restraining order was also issued, prohibiting him from contacting Emily for three years.
Emily delivered a victim impact statement, conveying her ongoing trauma but also her resilience.
The judge stressed the seriousness of the crime and affirmed that imprisonment was the appropriate penalty.
Authorities noted that Jones was using drugs like Valium at the time and had been intending to seek help for his dependency.
