PORT TALBOT MAN NEAL HANCOCK JAILED FOR STALKING AND RESTRAINING ORDER BREACH
Neal Hancock, 39 years old and formerly living on Lingfield Avenue in Port Talbot, now resides at the Ambassador Hotel on The Parade in Neath.
He was found guilty in court of breaching a restraining order by contacting Bethan Simms through Instagram.
Evidence presented during the hearing showed that Hancock had a history of harassment, which involved continuous messaging to Bethan and members of her family, as well as the creation of various social media accounts after being blocked.
His stalking included in-person threats and intimidation, leading to significant fear and psychological harm for those involved.
Hancock has previously served time for violating a restraining order after engaging in a long-term, distressing harassment campaign directed at three people.
Recently, he was taken back into custody after once again breaching the restraining order by messaging Bethan on Instagram, a clear violation of the court’s ruling.
He appeared in Swansea Magistrates Court, where he pleaded guilty and was sentenced to 12 weeks in prison.
South Wales Police's inspector Jared Easton characterized Hancock as a 'dangerous individual who refuses to change his ways and has caused a great deal of trauma for his victim.' He stressed that Hancock’s harassment has been ongoing over several years and condemned such conduct as wholly unacceptable, stating, 'His behaviour towards this victim has been ongoing for several years now.
It is completely unacceptable, and no one should have to suffer through a prolonged campaign like this.'
