A 35-year-old man from Neath, Adam Walters, has been sentenced to 12 months in prison after he pleaded guilty to multiple assault charges against his partner.
The incidents include an altercation in February where Walters reacted violently when the complainant refused to have sex, resulting in bruising and swelling to her left eye.
Additionally, on January 29, Walters and his partner argued, and he kicked her so forcefully that she fell out of bed and hit her head on a wall, causing bruising and a lump.
Walters admitted to two counts of assault occasioning actual bodily harm in July and received a prison sentence along with a restraining order preventing him from contacting the victim for three years.
During the court proceedings, Judge Geraint Walters commented on the behavior, stating, “I would have thought most men would be able to prevent themselves from engaging in this sort of behaviour.
It’s pitiful, frankly.
Something has gone very much wrong with the fabric of society these days.” PC Keira Dunleavy expressed strong disapproval of Walters’ actions, calling them unacceptable and emphasizing that no one should have to endure violence from their own partner.
