SCOTS SON KILLS MUM AFTER POISONING DAD DURING FAMILY BLOODBATH
Thomas Fraser, 31, launched a knife attack on his mother Miriam MacDonald, 52, after initially targeting his father Ian McDonald, 55.On the day of the attack, Fraser struck his parents with a 'black folding camping style-knife' during a violent confrontation.
Miriam called 999, reporting Fraser had tried to poison her husband by spiking his drink with a chemical substance, then was attacked by Fraser with a knife before he pursued her outside and repeatedly stabbed her on the neck as she was on the phone with police.
Fraser then attacked his father in the back garden, after which neighbors intervened armed with a shovel and a golf club.
Miriam MacDonald died hours later in hospital.
Fraser was brought to court, where psychiatrists concluded he was suffering from a mental disorder at the time and did not understand the nature or wrongfulness of his actions.
He was acquitted of murder but faces potential detention without limit of time.
