DEGNAN WHO URINATED ON CHILD AND SHOUTED AT SHEEP AFTER A9 RAMPAGE GETS UNPAID WORK
A Man who caused chaos during a drunken rampage was found by police topless in a nearby field “shouting at sheep”.Thomas Degnan, 42, had earlier urinated onto a nine-year-old child before entering the road near Gleneagles, causing vehicles to swerve and slow down.Sheriff Francis Gill described his behavior as "appalling" and acknowledged the trauma caused to the young victim, as well as the danger posed to motorists.
Degnan was sentenced to 150 hours of unpaid work and placed on supervision for a year to address his alcohol abuse issues.Details of the incident include witnesses at the Loaninghead filling station seeing Degnan arguing with his partner, then urinating into a vehicle and onto a child inside it.
He continued to act under the influence, causing vehicles to take evasive action as he staggered onto the A9, fell to the ground, and then was found topless, shouting at sheep.
Degnan admitted to acting in a threatening or abusive manner at the Filling Station and in a nearby field on May 28th last year.
The court heard he had no memory of the incident, potentially due to medication and alcohol, but his solicitor mentioned that he had not consumed alcohol since his arrest.
The case was handled in Perth Sheriff Court, and Sheriff Gill was the presiding officer.
